Then again her brother came — her other brothers came: "Long-hair, sister, long-hair sister, come quickly, you're marrying your cretin brother.
The auspicious moment has passed, the rice in the pot has dried."
"First brother, then brother-in-law; grow, Osmanthus, grow, grow, let me not see these sinners' faces. She poured on another pot of oil.
Again her elder brother's wife came: "Long-hair sister-in-law, Long-hair sister-in-law, you're marrying your cretin brother, come quickly!
The auspicious moment has passed, the rice in the pot has dried," she said, and the other poured on another pot of oil.
It is growing; it has reached the sky.

When it reached the sky, her brother's son came.
Her brother's son came; "Long-hair auntie, long-hair auntie" — she went straight up, she went up to heaven, she went up into the sky.
Then the nephew came: "Long-hair auntie, auntie, auntie, take me, too!" said the nephew.
She said, "There's a comb on the shelf.
There's a ball of thread there; bring that and come quickly!" she said.
Throw the ball of thread up!" she said; whee! he threw up the ball of thread.
His aunt threw the ball of thread down from above, unwinding it, and it reached the ground.
"Pull yourself up ??? on it!" she said, and he pulled himself up to heaven.
Then aunt and nephew went along together.
They went across and found a herd of wild water buffalo.
After that they raised buffalos.
They raised buffalos and built up a herd; aunt and nephew stayed there and raised buffalos. They raised a herd, and built a house.
Then a bandit came to take the girl [the aunt] away. The nephew was there.
"Oh, look at Long-hair's bell-wearing buffalo, how beautiful it is!"
The buffalo was in front, the herding woman behind.
"What of it? The buffalo behind me is better."
[The narrator returns to an earlier point in the narrative:] "You stay at home, auntie.
Put soot on your face.
Run water on your face," [the nephew] said and went off. He untied the buffalos and went.
"O, this orphan boy's bell-wearing buffalo, look how beautiful it is!" said the one who came to take the girl. He made friends (dost? Prem: dhus; not translated by BS) with the nephew; he came to take away the girl.
When he said "How beautiful it is!", "What of it? the one behind me is better."
"Oh, look at the orphan boy's buffalo! How beautiful it is, the one behind him."
"What of it? the one behind me is better."
"Oh, how beautiful this orphan boy's—"
He took him for an orphan, since he had left his parents and gone to heaven. Up there he had no parents.
"There's still another buffalo up at my house, a good one," he said.
He had a herd of buffalos.
"Oho, the orphan's other buffalo is also very beautiful."
"At my house, there's still another beautiful calf."
"Oh! this calf of the orphan boy's is beautiful, too."
He looked at that calf as well.
"The little calf is beautiful."
"Ah, the orphan boy's little calf is beautiful as well."
"There's a newborn calf at home."

"My aunt at home is so beautiful!" he said, and the man went straight there.

He looked but didn't find anyone. Who knows where she went! She just cast spells and left.
Again he called "Auntie!"; in the house, the comb said "ho!"
He went into the house and called "Auntie!"; the ropes in the shed answered "ho!"
"Now where has she gone?" he said.
He left the buffalos there.
He went to the tailor-caste quarter and got a drum (hudko).
"Hudki daun-daun, my auntie what gaun [village]?" he said.
"Hudki daun-daun, your aunt is over there, in that village," the villagers said, showing him.
Again: "Hudki dam-dam, my auntie what gaun?"
"Over in that village."
Again she wasn't there.
"Hudki daun-daun, my auntie what gaun?"
"Over in that village."
"Hudki daun-daun, my auntie what gaun?" — "That village over there."
"Hudki daun-daun, my auntie what gaun?" Then she was found.
In this day and age, can you trust anyone?
He said "Hudki daun-daun, my auntie what gaun?" and his aunt came out.
She went to the animal-pen [the ground floor] of the house and sifted some goat-pellets. In the house she put on some husk-bread for her nephew.
She made good things for her own family, for her sister-in-law and her mother-in-law.
She made good food, and when she put on the bread: "Oh auntie, that bread's for me!" (or qudstion ?)— "It's for my husband."
"This bread's for me, auntie!" he said. — "It's my mother-in-law's." — "This one's mine," he said. — "It's my father-in-law's."
"That bread is mine, auntie." — "It's my sister-in-law's," she said.
He went on saying "That bread is mine," and finally she made a pancake of husk-flour and threw it at him and gave him goat-pellet curry.
Then…
After that the nephew ran away.
He ran away. Up above there were ponds of wild buffalo milk.
He stayed in a tree. He scraped off the mud, drank the milk, cleaned the pond, and went.
He scraped clean the wild buffalo pond and came back at noon… He came again in the afternoon.
He comes in the afternoon, drinks the milk, cleans the pond and leaves. Then the buffalos would come and stay.
Again he comes in the afternoon, cleans the pond and leaves. The buffalos went themselves to the forest to graze, the wild buffalos.
When they [the buffalos] came they said, "Who is this, where is he from? Who is it who cleans our pond every day, drinks milk, and leaves.
The bell-wearing buffalo was in the brush; the others went to graze in the forest.
That man came directly there. He cleaned the pond, drank the milk, and went and stayed stayed in the same hole in a tree. At evening, the buffalos came.
The buffalos consulted together. "Today the man came like this; he is staying over here in the hole in the tree.
He cleaned the pond and drank the milk," the bell-wearing buffalo said, in the evening.
"Who are you? From what place? What are you? Come over to us!" the buffalos called to him.

"Only unblock the bell when you reach the other side of the hill, auntie!" he had told her. When she undid it, the buffalo said, "Auntie who gave bread gave a stomach ache! Auntie who gave bread gave a stomach ache!" and came back to this side. She went on, beating her stomach. The end.
