Note 456:

sarva laṭhī The shaman's uncut hair. All of the shamans with whom I am familiar have only a long, untrimmed ṭupī (topknot), unlike many local dhāmīs, who never cut any of their hair. The long hair of either is known as a laṭṭe, and both dhāmīs and shamans are abusively addressed as laṭyā. Compare laṭṭo "Cluster, lock of hair," and laṭṭe "A person with matted hair" (Turner 1980:546).
