śākinī A witch that is dead but powerful. Like padminī, an erotic classification of women, but this was apparently unknown in Jājarkoṭ. Probably related to śākini, a kind of female divinity attendant on Śiva and Pārvatī. Cf. śākini ḍākinī "Witches" (Turner 1980:573).
