Note 153:

syāuryā A weak masān, one that causes only minor problems, such as headaches and joint pains, and can be treated without needing a shaman. One offers ashes, chili pepper, head hair, and charcoal at a crossroads to dismiss them. (Probably borrowed from Kham: syaorya "ghost or dead man come back to haunt" Watters and Watters 1973:104).
