Note 102:

graha silā This is possibly a pun, or just an error (but a consistently recurring one, pronounced every time by Gumān) for ghar silā, as it is mentioned in the versions of other shamans. ghar silā is "the foundation stone of a house," also, "the joining of the main pillar to the roof," as in I.2, line 68. The auspicious time for placing the foundation stone is something for which an astrologer is commonly consulted. A small worship ceremony is conducted on the spot, depositing there red powder, uncooked rice, and a ceremonial coin, before this stone is put in place. Actually, it may be placed at any of the four corners of the house as well as under the central pillar.
